Project Engineer Ochlocknee, Georgia
Provide engineering skills needed to accomplish business objectives. Through goal and task-driven management of portfolio projects, work with others in the company and outside the company to design, improve, and construct manufacturing equipment, systems, processes, plants and facilities to achieve business objectives.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES

C. Define and develop processes and projects in support of business goals
D. Produce and work with others to produce process and instrumentation diagrams, plant and equipment layouts, equipment lists, materials lists, plans, schedules, cost estimates, project economics, and other data required in projects for a minerals plant
E. Make engineering calculations related to material and energy balances, equipment sizing, selection of materials, structural design, etc.
F. Provide clear and effective guidance to consultants, contractors, and other outside services under your direction
G. Provide engineering services and expertise to maintenance and operating managers
H. Coordinate and communicate regularly and effectively with all stakeholders in a team environment keeping them up to date on your progress toward goals and commitments
I. Build effective working relationships with managers, supervisors and workers
J. Be in the plant daily as it relates to your work.
K. Learn the company’s products, materials, equipment and processes at a professional engineering level of detail
L. Stay up to date in your technical field
M. Document projects and processes and provide training as required to support operations, maintenance, procurement, finance, and others as needed
N. Maintain project records according to established policy
O. Consult exhaustively with operations and maintenance at every step to ensure that their needs are met and their ideas are used when appropriate
P. Represent Oil-Dri values in all interaction with suppliers and other stakeholders in your work

NATURE AND SCOPE
A. General Environment
This position will support several geographically dispersed plants of a major minerals processing company. The company uses various technical processes to produce a broad range of products. Oil-Dri plants produce and package finished product for industrial, agricultural and consumer markets.
B. Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills
Experience in developing and managing capital projects. An active, widely recognized certification in Project Management is preferred. Bachelor of Science in an engineering or technical field with minerals, packaging, mechanical, chemical or civil engineering degree preferred. Experience in solids handling, combustion, drying operations, milling and screening, environmental compliance, packaging, power distribution, and instrumentation preferred.
C. Related Job Experience
Three to five years experience in an industrial environment.
D. Physical Requirements
Work in an office environment. Work in a heavy industrial environment reasonable agility and stamina, exposed to weather elements, dust and noise. Climb ladders and enter confined spaces. Wear personal protective equipment when required including hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respiratory protection, safety belts, gloves, etc. Perform heavy work and heavy lifting up to 30 pounds when required. Some driving and air travel.
E. Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority
Make or endorse cost estimates for capital projects and initiate capital requests. Direct activities and approve expenditures against budgeted projects you manage. Confirm and approve project invoices. Maintain and report performance against budget as to amount committed, paid and forecast to complete.
F. Contacts Within and Outside the Organization
Within: Contact and high visibility with all levels of management, supervision and plant employees.
Outside: Vendors, contractors, consultants, government agencies.
