Job Summary

Cardno are seeking a Senior Marine Ecologist, to play an integral role in expanding a team of dedicated environmental professionals within the Cardno Group. The successful person will have previous experience with environmental impact assessments for marine infrastructure projects, management of field investigation design and implementation, statistical analysis, preparation of interpretative reports, management plans, permits and approvals applications. The ideal candidate will also have a strong Marine Ecology focus with demonstrable experience in preparing, undertaking and reporting ecological field investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • ​Lead and develop the Perth based team with a focus on Marine Ecology and Coastal Oceanography.
  • Write and review technical reports.
  • Manage internal and external work relationships.
  • Provide technical support & guidance to the project group on environmental procedures, standards and project expectations.
  • Engage in Business Development, creating and generating new work.

Other Requirements

  • ​Degree in Environmental Science and/or Ecology, with postgraduate level desirable.
  • 15 plus years experience in marine ecology consulting.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading commercial operations, marketing and business development.
  • Project Management skills, and experience coordinating large multidiscipline projects.
  • Experience in conducting EIA for major infrastructure projects .
  • Knowledge of Biodiversity Policies, EPBC and the Environmental legislation.
  • Experience in the management of multidiscipline field investigations, logistics, HSE issues.
  • High quality writing and report preparation skills.
  • Expert knowledge of sampling design, data management and analysis.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a multidiscipline team.
