The Bolin Centre for Climate Research at Stockholm University (www.bolin.su.se) conducts fundamental research on key features of the climate system. The Bolin Centre brings together climate research at the departments of Meteorology, Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Geological Sciences, and Applied Environmental Science. The research program comprises processes and dynamics governing the natural evolution and variability of our climate as well as anthropogenic influences on the climate system. The position is part of the Bolin Centre’s capacity building within the field of numerical climate modeling.
At the Department of Meteorology at Stockholm University (www.misu.su.se) research and education are within four main areas of atmospheric sciences and oceanography: Atmospheric physics, Dynamic meteorology, Physical oceanography and Chemical meteorology. In all these areas there is a strong focus on the climate and on processes important for the climate and its development. The department is the largest meteorological department in Sweden and was initiated by the renowned meteorologist Carl-Gustaf Rossby in the 1950’s. Today the department employs some 75 individuals, of which about 25 are scientists and almost 30 PhD students.

Subject
Studies of fundamental processes within the atmosphere in modern and future climates, through the development, application or evaluation of numerical models.

Main Tasks
Research, and to some extent teaching and supervision.
