About the role
This role works in close collaboration with the Solomon Islands Country Program Team, SCA and primary stakeholders in a partnership capacity to support and guide in the area of Child Protection. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) in the Solomon Islands, the Child Protection and Juvenile Justice Technical Advisor (CPTA) shares in the overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of the Country Program. The Advisor’s technical leadership will define strategic direction and ensure high quality child protection programming in funded programs, as well as being the primary focal point for securing additional funding for further child protection programming initiatives in the Solomon Islands. This role will work with the Country and Provincial Offices to set, support and monitor the strategic direction of child protection programs in the Solomon Islands.
Working to strengthen the technical quality of SCA in the Solomon Islands’ child protection programs and the capacity of staff to implement high quality programs, key outcomes will be to: strengthen innovation and leadership in child protection; represent and intensify the voice of the child protection program internally and externally including influencing SCI global strategy; contribute to the collection and dissemination of innovations and lessons about how to improve child protection outcomes; raise awareness of child protection through a programmatic focus with a strategic vision for the future. Other key duties include: leading on child protection needs assessments and baselines, liaising and linking with other sectors as appropriate; and leading on the design of the child protection program, guiding and supporting staff to initiate planned interventions that will ensure that all children enjoy access to quality child protection services (in both development and emergency contexts). The Child Protection Technical Advisor should ensure that all aspects of work are undertaken in accordance with Save the Children policy, and also promote best practice global standards. The role is also responsible for leadership to Save the Children’s existing Children and Youth in Conflict with the Law (CYiCL) Project.
