Project Accountant - Stop Violence against Girls in School & Right to Education projects

CONTRACT: Fixed term contract (May - August 2013)
SALARY: £32,292
LOCATION: Central London
CLOSING DATE: 3 May 2013
The Stop Violence Against Girls in School project aims to enable girls to realise their rights to education and participation in a violence free environment. Funded by the UK’s Big Lottery Fund and implemented simultaneously in Ghana, Kenya and Mozambique over a five-year period in collaboration with national partner organisations and the Institute of Education at University of London, the project uses a combination of advocacy, community-led initiatives and research to better understand and respond to the complex issues of violence that prevent girls from enjoying their rights to and in education. The project began in 2008 and is due to close in August 2013.
The Right to Education (RTE) Project has been undertaking international advocacy, information sharing and capacity building of local and international partners since 2000. A project of ActionAid International, Amnesty International, the Global Campaign for Education, Save the Children and Human Rights Watch, RTE envisions a world in which human rights in, through and to education are realised, in which all people are empowered to know their education rights and where those with responsibility are held to account for the realisation of those rights. This is an on-going project supported by multiple funders.
The Project Accountant will dedicate 75% of his or her time to ensure the financial integrity of the Stop Violence Against Girls in School project, providing consolidated financial reports for the project in line with the requirements of the Big Lottery Fund and AAI, supporting finance teams in participating countries. The Project Accountant will also manage the project closure process from a finance perspective to the project’s end date of 30 August 2013. The accountant will dedicate 25% of time to the RTE Project.
