WWF International, Coordinator, Green Economies

From its origins as a small group of committed wildlife enthusiasts, WWF has grown into one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations – supported by 5 million people and active in over 100 countries on five continents.

For our Conservation team, we are looking for a qualified:

Coordinator, Green Economies

WWF works towards two related, overarching goals: (i) to halt the loss of biodiversity, and (ii) to ensure humanity’s footprint, or its use of natural resources, is sustainable and equitable. Footprint and biodiversity are essentially two sides of the same coin: sustainable resource use is fundamental to meeting WWF’s long-term biodiversity conservation objectives.

WWF recognizes that unsustainable economic activity is a major driver of environmental degradation - and the shift to green economies will be crucial to building a future in which people live in harmony with nature.

WWF’s global network is developing a strategic approach to promoting the shift to green economies, by changing international and national policy frameworks, and practical action on the ground in biodiversity priority places and key emerging and advanced economies.

This philosophy is reflected in WWF’s Footprint strategy, which prioritizes work on Green Economies; Land Use (making better resource use choices); and Cities and Consumption. The intention is that this role will lead the implementation of the Green Economies strand of WWF Footprint strategy, as well as supporting broader WWF footprint objectives.

This will involve catalysing priority strategies and solutions leading to: the greening of economic policies and public and private investment; managing natural capital sustainably and equitably through incentives for conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services; and ensuring governance and policy making promotes sustainable development by adopting measures of success that go “beyond GDP”.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual to lead this strategy for WWF’s global network. This will require co-coordinating new and existing green economies work streams across programmes, policy arenas and campaigns in multiple locations. The successful candidate will represent WWF in all relevant green economies fora - building organizational credibility and influence on this important agenda.

Location:

WWF office in Singapore or Seoul, South Korea.
