Our client now seeks to hire a European Compliance/Privacy Officer (m/f) for its European service center in Brussels.
Function
The European Compliance Officer position will be responsible for compliance with the new AIFM directive as well as ensuring that Riverside’s European operations are in compliance with local European laws governing investment funds and advisors in the different jurisdictions in which Riverside is active (e.g., UK FCA requirements), as well as with the Investment Advisors Act in the U.S.
The position will also oversee and supervise Riverside’s privacy and data protection policy and obligations in Europe, and manage the education and training of EU Personnel concerning compliance with the variousregulatory regimes applicable to investments funds and fund managers.
Specific job responsibilities will include among others:
- Ensure Riverside is in compliance with all necessary country specific private placement rules prior to being subject to AIFMD;
- Become familiar with and assume certain responsibilities under UK FCA regulations and ensure that Riverside is in compliance with all FCA requirements for its UK operation, as well as take on similar responsibilities in other European jurisdictions and ensuring that local operations are in compliance with local requirements;
- Become familiar with all new regulatory requirements under AIFMD and develop and implement plans and the necessary documents, processes and policies to ensure Riverside is in compliance. This includes among others:
- Capital requirements;
- Risk management procedures;
- Valuation policies;
- Depository and custody arrangements;
- Document retention.
- Work with Riverside’s Chief Compliance Officer and take the lead in developing and managing Riverside’s privacy and data protection policy and obligations in Europe;
- Provide guidance for ongoing compliance with UK FCA, AIFMD, Dodd-Frank, U.S. Investment Advisors Act and other regulatory regimes which impact Riverside’s operations in Europe;
- Ensure all necessary licenses and registrations are in place for Riverside’s European operations;
- Develop training programs re data protection, anti-bribery and Anti-Money Laundering regulations and all regulatory issues affecting Riverside’s business;
- Supervise and advise on compliance with trade restrictions and prohibitions;
- Remain up to date and follow up on any new regulatory requirements in Europe and US impacting Riverside’s European operations.
Profile
You are a European qualified Master in law with a strong academic background. You bring along 4 to 10 years of experience of which at least 3 years in regulatory and compliance matters.
You are fluent in English and at least one other European language; any other European language is a plus.
You are a reliable person and you align beliefs, words and actions.
You are able to identify and correctly qualify risks and problems.
You are also able to communicate in a simple, concise and consistent manner; you build trust trough communication.
You are mobile, as travel throughout Europe will be involved (up to 25%).
You are a self-starter, hands-on, enthusiastic and well-organized.
