Leishmaniasis Control Programme Medical Co-ordinator - Syria
The MENTOR Initiative is looking for a highly motivated and skilled person to join their emergency team and to help lead the work of the organization in Syria to bring under control a Leishmaniasis epidemic that is currently severely affecting the population living in and around Aleppo. You will be working as part of a specialist disease control team, and will be responsible for working with local health partners to reinforce and build the capacity of Syrian health workers to provide good quality case management services for victims of cutaneous Leishmaniasis, with contingency for rarer visceral cases. You will also be responsible for ensuring the supply and distribution (with the support of a Logistics Co-ordinator) of Leishmaniasis drugs and essential treatment materials to health partners on the ground, as well as the collection and analysis of epidemiological data to track and report the evolution of the epidemic.
You will be hold a medical qualification, and will have several years of proven experience in the design and delivery of public health disease control programmes. You will have good experience of Leishmaniasis case management, with a strong interest in operational research and epidemiology. You will be experienced in training nurses, doctors and other medical staff and you will have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
