Peacebuilding Specialist, P-4, Office of Emergency Programmes, NYHQ

PurposeUNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a Peacebuilding Specialist to support UNICEF policy advocacy and to support UNICEF Regional and Country Offices in the implementation of the Peacebuilding and Education Programme and, generally, in the area of peacebuilding, conflict sensitivity and conflict analysis. Qualifications of Successful Candidate- Advanced university degree in social sciences, international development, conflict studies, public policy or other related field.*
Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience at national and international levels in social development, management, programme design and management.  Field experience in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and conflict sensitivity highly desirable.
Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is highly desired.
*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Set, develop and revise organizational strategy and develop clear visions of the UNICEF future potential.
- Good leadership and supervisory skills; coordinate group activities, ensuring that roles within the team are clear.
- Sets clearly defined objectives and produces comprehensive project plans for the organization.

Management and SupervisionThe incumbent reports to the Chief, Peacebuilding and Recovery Section, EMOPS New York.

Travel:              Office-based, with high level of travel
