Job Overview
  • To allocate and organise workload and resource to achieve British Airways’ London Heathrow longhaul operational departure plan whilst maintaining full compliance to safety and quality standards
  • Reporting to the Duty Delivery or Fleet Shift Manager, the Duty Delivery Engineer is a member of the management team responsible for the delivery of the engineering operation in the Heathrow Terminals
  • This includes having an accurate oversight of the allocation of all longhaul aircraft on the day and balancing the workload between the Satellites to meet resource, production targets and quality standards
  • To successfully achieve this the jobholder will effectively prioritise, plan, allocate tasks to aircraft maintenance teams and monitor progress highlighting risks and issues.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Continually monitor the Engineering Operation intervening where required to deliver and maintain customer service
  • Deliver the daily long haul operational plan: assess and prioritise workload with timescales, allocate tasks fairly and communicate clear expectations/targets using an electronic whiteboard
  • Meet agreed business targets priorities
  • Act as main point of contact between Operations Control, the Despatcher community, Engineering Operations Manager, Maintenance Control (Maintrol), and the Operational Planning Group (OPG)
  • Maintain serviceability and compliance overview of our longhaul fleet at London Heathrow
  • Represent department at operational and planning meetings
  • Collect/collate Airworthiness handovers and ensure relevant recovery plans in place
  • Overnight single point of contact for long haul Engineering
  • Monitor overnight inbound defects in conjunction with Maintrol/OPG
  • Stand in when required for Duty Delivery Manager
  • Provide close support for Airport Centre Engineer
  • Promote high quality standards, monitor trends and identify potential improvements
  • Collect/record/report statistical data against performance metrics, identify trends and instigate remedial action Create an effective team working environment

The Person

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:-
  • Technical/engineering qualification, Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a aviation operational role working with compliance
  • Strong, proven planning/prioritisation skills

  • Ability to pass Criminal Records Check/hold London Heathrow Airside pass
  • Ability to hold Airside driving licence i.e. have held a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months
  • Ability to work shifts
