MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT


The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private non-profit organization that coordinates the development and use of voluntary consensus standards in the United States, the conformity assessment system in the U.S., and represents the needs and views of U.S. stakeholders in standardization forums around the globe. ANSI oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector, enhancing both the global competitiveness of U.S. business and the U.S. quality of life.  The Institute represents the diverse interests of more than 125,000 companies and organizations and 3.5 million professionals worldwide.  
We have a new position in our Washington DC headquarters, to support the expansion of ANSI’s global programs, with a particular emphasis on China.  Primary responsibilities will include:
International Development
  • Assist in development of new programs to advance ANSI’s mission internationally
  • Support development of proposals or other fundraising for new programs
  • Successfully implement new international programs on time and on budget
  • Support departmental budgeting, document management, and related activities
China Program
  • Serve as primary link between ANSI’s China-based team and U.S. – based members
  • Present informational updates and information to ANSI’s staff and membership
  • Work with ANSI’s China team to carry out existing and future initiatives
  • Work with ANSI’s China team to evaluate and prioritize opportunities in China
  • Support fundraising efforts to support ANSI’s activities in China
  • Support meetings, workshops and other engagements with the PRC government

Qualifications



  • 4+ years related work experience
  • Proven business development and/or fundraising experience
  • Background in standardization, conformity assessment or regulatory fields a plus
  • U.S. and China government relations experience a strong plus
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to work effectively with various levels within the organization
  • Project management experience; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
  • Bachelors’ degree required; further study a strong plus
  • Outstanding written and oral English communication skills
  • Written and oral Mandarin Chinese communication skills a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project)
  • Position requires extensive travel domestically and internationally
