The role

Working with our Regional Leadership team in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC),  you’ll advise them on the issues of discrimination and lack of rights faced by the women of the region. It’s all about shaping our programmes to challenge state policies and programmes, deliver change and build brighter futures for women. So as well as advising on a top level basis, you’ll also work directly with the programme teams – supporting the design, development and implementation of strategic interventions that put governance and active citizenship at their core. That means delivering coaching and advising to staff and partners in order to build on their capacity and understanding of gender power relations. It also means working with both Oxfam GB and Oxfam International to drive information sharing between countries and regions – combining lessons learnt so that our programmes make the biggest possible impact.

What we’re looking for

A practised advisor with an in depth understanding of gender issues, women’s rights and governance principles, you’ll have experience of applying your knowledge in different contexts and cultures. So the chances are, you’ll come to us from a similar role with another NGO. But regardless of what you’re doing right now, you’ll need a broad range of management, capacity building and interpersonal skills. A natural communicator, you’ll need to be fluent in English and Spanish and have the confidence to coach, influence and build relationships at all levels. While a broad understanding of the current Latin America context is essential too.
