Position Title: Procurement Officer – Strategic Orders
A. Position Information
Department: UH Procurement
Location: Kigali, Rwanda
Reporting to: Head of Procurement
Direct Reports: N/A
B. Job Summary
The Procurement Officer for Strategic Orders is responsible for developing UH’s supplier base to obtain the best quality and price for UH’s products. This will involve market research on product manufacturers and suppliers locally, regionally and internationally together with supplier relationship management and contract negotiation.
C. Main Responsibilities
Responsibilities
• Ensure requests from the Sales department for product price quotes are dealt with efficiently from provision of quotes through to placing of orders with suppliers
• Compare options on transport for regional and international suppliers to achieve the best value for UH and UH’s clients
• Deepen market understanding of UH’s primary products and identify strategic partnerships with local, regional and international suppliers
• Create and maintain an up to date UH supplier and supplier product price database
D. Minimum job requirements
Education
Masters Degree or above in business, management or construction related field
Experience
• 5 – 7 years in procurement or supply chain and/ or related field, experience in the construction sector an advantage
• Proven ability to successfully manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts
Specialist Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages Excel, Word, Powerpoint
• Data analysis skills
• Fluency in English (both verbal and written), French language skills an
advantage
Certification and licenses: N/A
E. Physical requirements
The location of the work will be the UH Kigali office, with frequent travel to projects and potential supplier sites locally, regionally and internationally
