System Engineer Modem Products

Function:

The main responsibilities
You will be a key member of the engineering group developing commercial modem solutions. These products are earth observation modems, satellite TT&C modems, burst modulators and demodulators, built-in RF frequency convertors. You will be the technical lead responsible for the definition, design and development, validation and test of the product up to the product launch.

System engineering
- Together with the Product Manager define the products roadmap and features, specifying each release and defining requirements, specifying how features should work in products.
- Definition of the product specification given the product marketing or commercial requirements.
-Definition of the products architecture complying with the product specification.
- Definition, follow-up and management of all sub-modules of the Product.
- Interface with the engineering teams: real time embedded s/w, FPGA h/w, monitoring and control s/w, test and validation engineering and product marketing management.

Technical lead
- Daily follow-up of the sub-teams task of all the expert teams.
- Requirements tracking.
- Bug tracking management.
- Definition and follow up of the test plan.
- Follow up of the h/w configuration and status.
- Proposal preparations.

Profile

A Master in engineering (or equivalent by experience) with at least 5 years of experience in developing telecommunication systems, preferably satellite communications. At least 3 years of experience in a similar function with knowledge of the telecom industry as well as an appropriate technical background.

Requested personal profile
- Up-to-date knowledge of satellite communications equipment with a solid technology expertise.
- Strong analytical capacities; thorough analysis of the problem and synthesis of all elements to come to a satisfactory solution for the customer.
-Well organized (maintaining overview / coordination/ being able to distinguish important from less important matters).
- Accurate and result-driven.
- Drive, engagement and creative thinking to bring new concepts to the front.
- Excellent knowledge of embedded real-time systems, FPGA h/w development and monitoring & control s/w.
- Good knowledge of Linux system administration and data communication protocols, affinity with computer systems.
- Have good communicative skills and be able to express yourself fluently in Dutch and English. French or German is an asset.
- Are a team-player.

Location
The principle job location is Antwerp (Hoboken) though short duration missions abroad are part of this challenging job environment.
