Cardno JFNew is seeking a mid-level biologist / ecologist position to work with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, ecologists, environmental scientists, hydrologists locally, in our Monee, IL area office, as well as throughout the United States. This position will primarily focus on providing support for wetland-related projects such as delineations, permitting, compliance, mitigation, restoration, and monitoring. This position may also support other projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Field data collection, quantitative surveys, analysis, report preparation, and presentation of results
  • Project, task, and related budget management
  • Client and regulatory agency communications
  • Participating in and/or leading teams to effectively complete field assignments
  • Technical support to various projects
  • Assistance with proposal writing and cost estimating
  • Other administrative support duties as needed

Other Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
 
  • B.S. degree or higher in biology, environmental science, or related natural science field
  • At least 3 years of relevant post-degree experience supported by course work and training in environmental or natural science field
  • 1 to 3 years of experience conducting field work, including wetland delineations using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Midwest, Northeast, and Northcentral Regional Supplements
  • Experience in applying for permits and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to collect field data through delineation, concurrence letters from agencies, or copies of past reports
  • 1 to 3 years of experience managing projects or tasks within projects
  • Experience in developing business relationships
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office productsStrong quantitative sampling and technical writing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exhibit competent understanding of Federal and State (primarily Wisconsin) wetland laws
  • Ability to travel to field sites throughout the Wisconsin and other Cardno offices throughout the U.S.
  • Ability to work well independently and with a diverse multi-disciplinary group in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
