BBC Newsgathering is at the heart of BBC News providing reports, pictures and audio material to all BBC News programmes and services both in the UK and internationally.   BBC Newsgathering provides content for television, radio, online and interactive services, ensuring it’s of the highest possible editorial and technical standard this in turn provides the best value for money for BBC audiences. It has to ensure that in the face of increasing competition, the BBC is the world leader in broadcast newsgathering at the forefront of both the range of editorial coverage and technological innovation.

Role

As part of the team, you will provide high-quality Picture gathering in the field, but also where necessary to carry out straight forward journalistic and production duties; to feed material back to base and on an occasional basis to edit material.  You'll be responsible for getting to locations with the appropriate equipment, often on your own and driving is a significant and regular part of the duties.

Requirements

We're looking for an experienced camera journalist with proven craft skills as well as a strong passion for News.  You must have excellent editorial awareness and judgement as well as good research skills to originate and develop programme stories.  You should have the ability to take responsibility for any brief that may be assigned by a programme, newsroom or newsgathering editor, and show that you can work well within a team and with journalistic colleagues across BBC outlets. 
You must be willing to travel in UK and abroad, often at short notice. You may be asked to work in areas of hardship or public unrest or war zones. Thorough knowledge of relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Legislation.
