Staff Services Engineer (Civil)

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state public agency operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the New York / New Jersey region including The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), the primary transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads. 

This position will be located at Two Gateway, Newark New Jersey
Responsibilities
Reporting to a Principal Engineer of Civil Engineering, the Staff Services Engineer will be responsible for performing and/or supervising technical staff in the preparation of civil engineering studies, contract drawings, technical specifications and construction cost estimates; evaluate project scopes, develop design criteria, budgets for design services, and design schedules; provide technical advice and assistance to facility and other PA personnel in matters related to civil engineering; audit civil engineering designs performed by consultants; lead project teams in the preparation of civil engineering designs including preparation of proposals, design coordination, schedule reporting, budget reporting and briefing senior staff.  


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 
-  Must possess a Bachelor¿s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university 
-  Minimum of six (6) or more years experience in progressively more difficult and responsible civil engineering design work. 
-  Licensed as Professional Engineer in the State of New York and/or New Jersey
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will present the following qualifications profile 
-  Prior experience supervising professional and technical staff 
-  Experience designing airfields, sanitary collection systems, water distribution systems, railroad track and/or pavement 
-  Design experience must include; horizontal and vertical alignment and grading of pavements, storm drainage systems, preparation of contract drawings, preparation of technical specifications and construction cost estimates. 
-  Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills 
-  Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Civil 3D design software 
-  Must have a valid driver¿s license.
