Description:	The Legal Department of the SEIU has an opening for an Assistant General Counsel, starting in September 2013. The Assistant General Counsel will be assigned to the Union's Healthcare Division focusing on the long-term care industry (including homecare and nursing home workers). Responsibilities may include: providing legal advice to union officers, local leaders and staff organizers on strategic campaigns; analyzing existing legal structures governing homecare workers in targeted states; developing and pursuing defensive and proactive litigation strategies; drafting proposed legislation, regulations, executive orders and other policy initiatives. Full vacation, health, and retirement benefits are provided, and salary is commensurate with experience. Applicants should have at least three to five years of experience, excellent legal analytic, research and writing skills, strong academic record and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated commitment to workers' rights.
