Chief of party , Latin America and the Caribbean

Chemonics seeks an experienced chief of party to lead an anticipated five-year regional disaster preparedness and response project in Latin America and the Caribbean region. The chief of party will be responsible for oversight, administration, supervision, and management of all aspects of a multi-country project that will deliver technical assistance in disaster preparedness and response, including extensive training programs to disaster responders throughout the region, mitigation and strategic planning, and provision of initial response capability for disasters. The chief of party will be based in San Jose, Costa Rica. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in a  relevant field required; advanced degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in disaster preparedness and response, humanitarian assistance, or a related field, including five years overseas experience in developing countries, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean 
  • Experience in relevant U.S. government procedures/practices and contract and grant management 
  • Experience​ managing large, complex programs 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Superior communication skills (written and oral) 
  • English and Spanish fluency required
