This newly-created post offers an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced information professional to lead the further development of the HEA’s web-based Resources Centre (RC) and manage its day-to-day running.
You will apply your expertise and creativity to shape and manage the next ambitious phase of the RC’s development, bringing specialist expertise in digital information management combined with IT awareness and skills to enable close working with the HEA’s Academic Practice, Research and Policy, Information Services and Marketing and Communications teams to provide a high quality service to our subscribing HE and College-Based HE providers.
The HEA is currently investing in the further development of our RC, which plays a high profile role in our service to subscribing universities and colleges and is central to our mission and reputation. The RC supports evidence-informed practice in higher education learning and teaching, and informs policy, through assets that include research reports, case studies, recordings of online professional development events and a range of practical guidance including a growing bank of resources specifically for those new to teaching. New resources are generated on an on-going basis through our wide range of current services and programmes.
The further developed RC will provide a vibrant focus for teaching and learning practitioners and communities in HE to share resources and knowledge, based on a new repository platform that is being built on Islandora, an open-source software framework for resource discovery combining: Fedora Commons repository; Drupal content management system; Apache SOLR search. The repository will provide access via the HEA website to a quality-assured resource collection which will be easy to search, reliable and stable. In addition, the RC will offer a platform for community forums and interactions, and protocols for community-based resource-sharing.
While the oversight, management and development of the RC will be the principal focus of this role, it is likely that the post-holder will contribute additionally to managing and developing other HEA web-based content services.
