Assistant Producers, Coast and CountryfileReports to: Executive Producer via Series Producer
Duration: 3 Months +

BAFTA winning Coast created the magazine documentary genre and continues to be a smash hit for BBC TWO becoming the benchmark for landscape based factual shows, Broadcast magazine called Coast ‘Absolute Gold’.
We are looking for experienced, creative APs who have a substantial track record of directing presenter-led factual programmes/items on location.

You’ll be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Coast style and content and have a passion for history, science and environmental programming. You’ll be dealing with complex logistics, scheduling, working to tight budgets and managing a small research team. You must be able to demonstrate exceptional story structure and scripting skills and have experience of leading an edit in a fast turnaround environment.

BBC1's Countryfile is regularly the most watched factual programme, attracting audiences of up to 9 million viewers. Its popular appeal is based on stories covering countryside issues which resonate with a wide audience.
As a Countryfile AP you will have responsibility for producing and directing 6-12 minute films which you will take through to the edit. You will be involved in all stages of production and expected to manage a researcher and runner in the office and on location. Good storytelling, experience of factual programming and an enthusiasm for producing creative and ambitious content is key, as is a track record in directing presenter-led films with high profile talent. You will also have strong writing skills with the ability to translate often complex subject matter for a non-specialist audience who expect to be engaged and entertained. The schedule is demanding, the turnaround is tight, so resilience is crucial. Experience of self-shooting is desirable.

Assistant Producers are often required to drive and so candidates will need to hold a valid driving license and be over 23 for BBC Insurance purposes.
