Department

BBC Essex is an award winning radio station and we are proud of the high standard of our output. Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Broadcast Assistant to work primarily with our mid-morning programme team. The Dave Monk Show is an energetic, live three hour show, with a high profile presenter. It covers a wide variety of stories every day reflecting real life in Essex, holding people to account, covering breaking news, showcasing the community and entertaining the listener.
We need someone who can assist the producers and presenter with on air production in the studio and to carry out basic studio operation. You will take and assess calls from listeners, whose contributions are a key part of our output, and act as the first point of contact with the public.

You will also be expected to help with programme preparation such as setting up guests, researching features and writing cues under the guidance of the producers. You will assist with programme administration and archiving.

Requirements

We are looking for a good team player, someone who understands the important role that a good Broadcast Assistant plays. It is important to be able to prioritise your work and deal with conflicting demands on your time, whilst remaining calm and positive.
You may be expected to work on other areas of the output and to fulfil other BA duties as required.
For further details about the role please contact Deborah Stephenson (Assistant Editor) on 01245 616066 or Gerald Main (Editor) on 01245 616000.

Please note we are likely to hold interviews on Friday 22 March, so please pencil this in your diary and we will confirm interviews as soon as possible after the closing date.
