BBC News On Demand is an important part of the Multimedia Newsroom. As audiences increasingly look to access their news on demand, the department develops and promotes BBC News content on a variety of platforms and new technologies as and when they emerge.
Working to a Senior Broadcast Journalist, Assistant Editor or Editor, you will commission original material from BBC Newsgathering and guide reporters and correspondents in how to produce bespoke content for the BBC's On Demand audience. You'll drive the push to develop innovative treatments and story-telling techniques suitable for On Demand platforms and attend editorial meetings both within and outside the immediate department. In addition you will voice packages or present On Demand bulletins when required.
You will have experience of working in a busy news environment either on TV, Radio or Online and an understanding of the BBC's digital platforms and audiences. You will need first class writing and production skills. A thorough knowledge of editorial aims and policies of BBC News and an ability to exercise editorial judgement in a range of situations is essential. You'll be a good team player an be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure. You will need to have a good knowledge of production techniques and facilities available to journalists.
