Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of Film Festival Consultant to provide outreach consulting services for our New York Film Festival.
Consultancy Terms:
  1. Coordinate outreach to increase audience attendance at film screenings and events;
  2. Conduct research to identify potential community organizations, university programs and arts institutions with constituencies who may be interested in the HRW Film Festival;
  3. Act as a liaison with presenting partners by ensuring that selected organizations have the information they require to spread the word about festival screenings;
  4. Create and distribute outreach materials including flyers, printed programs and email blasts;
  5. Post screening events on relevant event listings websites;
  6. Conduct in-person outreach to organizations in New York City to inform the public about festival events;
  7. Coordinate festival volunteers who will hand out festival flyers in strategic locations across Manhattan; and
  8. Provide a final written outreach report detailing the scope of the outreach work as well as an evaluation for areas for improvement in 2014.
Key skills, technical background, and experience required:  
Education:  Bachelor of Arts degree is required.
Experience:  Must have an existing network of contacts within the New York City film, arts and/or NGO communities.  
Related Skills and Knowledge: 
  1. Must live within close proximity to film festival locations (Greater New York area); and
  2. Background in conducting outreach for New York film and/or nonprofit arts events is a plus.
Fee:  Commensurate with experience.
Contract Duration: 2 months from April 15, 2013 through June 28, 2013
