EUROGAS is the association representing towards the European Union companies and associations engaged in the wholesale, retail, and distribution of gas in Europe. It has its offices in Brussels.

EUROGAS is the prime interlocutor for energy policy, environmental and other issues related to this sector. The association participates in the Madrid European Gas Regulator Forum and other EU consultative groups on energy.

EUROGAS is seeking to recruit an EU Affairs Director.

Key tasks

As part of a Brussels-based team reporting to the Secretary General:
  • Identify emerging issues and keep members and other EUROGAS staff informed about the development of current legislative proposals and policies relevant to the European gas wholesale, retail and distribution business;
  • Facilitate the assessment of implications and provide advice on appropriate responses;
  • Establish member task forces, manage their meetings and help draft information and proposals;
  • Coordinate and conduct constructive representation vis-à-vis the EU institutions, related industry associations and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in EU affairs or in the energy sector;
  • Understanding of global and European energy supply and related geo-politics. If not already an expert, a keen interest in and an ability to grasp quickly legislative and technical matters related to the internal gas market;
  • Understanding of the structure of the EU institutions and the legislative processes;
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; comfortable when speaking in public; an ability to listen and to provide necessary information to our stakeholders in a concise manner;
  • A skillful facilitator in reaching the highest common denominator amongst members and with other EUROGAS stakeholders;
  • An ability to produce clear and concise minutes and reports and to draft reader-friendly information and position papers;
  • A University graduate;
  • Excellent spoken and written English is a prerequisite; fluency in other EU languages will be beneficial;
  • Diplomatic, self-starting as well as a good player in a small team;
  • Regular use of Internet and Microsoft Office applications.
