Responsibilities

 
  • Provides Level II network support. Troubleshoots network problems using diagnostic testing tools and escalates to obtain additional support when required.
  • Implements new services by configuring satellite modems, routers, switches, QOS bandwidth management devices, and DVB encapsulators.
  • Ensures the successful implementation, integration, monitoring, management, suspension, termination and reporting of network services as required.
  • Troubleshoots, escalates, logs and tracks to resolution problems relating to data, network and other production systems.
  • Manages and facilitates all communications between our customers, vendors, internal and external fix agents necessary to resolve day-to-day technical issues.

Experience / Qualifications

 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years technical support experience in a telecommunications or network operations environment.
  • Heavy exposure to Cisco routers and switches is a must. Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professionals (CCNP) preferred.
  • Experience with BGP, OSPF, HSRP, RIP, VLANS, MPLS is required.
  • Good understanding of satellite or wireless communications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Network Management Systems (Cacti, MRTG, MaxView, NewPoint, Nagios, Whatsup, iBuilder, iMonitor).
  • Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. 
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Independent problem solver combined with strong team orientation.
  • Capable of making solid, fact-based decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to work well in an international, multi-cultural, and high pressure technical environment.
  • Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
