Department

BBC Information and Archives (part of the Future Media and Technology Division) are a key contributor to the programme-making process. I&A manages one of the world's largest audiovisual archives, in an environment where new technology, digitisation and creativity are at the forefront of developing improved access to this very valuable resource. Our customers are BBC programme makers, external clients, policy makers, historians and increasingly our audiences.
This role can be based in London or Glasgow

Role

You’ll audit the metadata exchange process across the BBC production, archiving and publication environments and also collate and audit technical metadata required for publication on all BBC platforms. As well as producing process maps of metadata delivery for publication across the BBC, you’ll also review metadata standards in place across the broadcast industry and peer review from a BBC perspective. We will also need you to collate and audit descriptive metadata required for publication on all BBC distribution platforms. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also consult and work with external bodies such as EBU and SMPTE.

Requirements

You can draw on the skills and knowledge gained from your recognised professional qualification in Librarianship/information work, or a qualification relating to archives or records management, or an Information Studies/Sciences degree to highlight the areas of future development. Your demonstrable experience of metadata mapping in a customer focused environment as well as your experience of communicating and negotiation skills with both staff and customers, and proven ability to successfully manage relationships within an archive or production environment will ensure you are a real asset to the team.
