PU Europe seeks a Technical Affairs Officer.

PU Europe represents the polyurethane (PU) insulation industry at European level with its secretariat situated in Brussels. Its membership consists of national trade organisations and raw material suppliers. The principal function of PU Europe is to monitor EU legislative developments and seek to influence areas of EU policy and standardisation that impact on the PU industry.
PU thermal insulation is a major contributor to mitigating climate change and increasing the energy efficiency of buildings and industrial installations. Thanks to its exceptional performance levels, PU is the insulant of choice in very low/nearly zero energy buildings.

Job Description

Full time position in the Secretariat of PU Europe based in its offices, currently located at 6, av. Emile van Nieuwenhuyse, 1160 Brussels (Belgium).
The Technical Affairs Officer will report directly to the Secretary General and will principally undertake work on the following tasks and topics:
  • Keep under review and conduct background research on EU policy and standardisation projects affecting PU insulation products and help to form PU Europe positions;
  • Coordination of certain of PU Europe’s task groups;
  • Attendance at standardisation meetings (primarily CEN);
  • Management of PU Europe research projects;
  • Draft summary reports on the results of research projects;
  • Attendance at certain PU Europe meetings as decided by the Secretary General.

Qualifications and desirable Attributes

The Technical Affairs Officer must have the following qualifications/attributes:
  • Degree in an appropriate subject area (e.g. engineering, construction, chemistry) and two years' relevant work experience;
  • Ideally, knowledge of the European standardisation system and the construction (especially insulation) industry;
  • Excellent working knowledge of English (other languages an advantage);
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team;
  • Familiarity with all MS Office computer programmes;
  • Ability and willingness to travel anywhere in Europe.
