Sustainable Management of Chome Nature Reserve in Same District

The project 'Sustainable Management of Chome Nature Reserve in Same District' aims toalleviate poverty in rural communities in Tanzania through the promotion of participatory natural resources management. The outcome that the project is striving to achieve is sustainable improvement of livelihood options for 87,818 people of 35 communities of Same District through their empowerment and active participation in the management of natural resources. The project aims to achieve this through a combination of participatory forest, land and water resources management, enterprise development and capacity building.
The project is a 42 month partnership between TFCG, ONGAWA, the Tanzania Forest Service and Same District Council. The project is financed by the European Union.

Community Development Officer

This is an opportunity to work with local communities and other stakeholders to establish a range of enterprises and livelihood activities in the communities surrounding Chome Nature Reserve.

Qualifications, experience and skills

• A BSc or higher degree in rural development, agronomy, micro-finance or a related subject;
• At least 5 years experience of supporting improved enterprise skills and income generating activities amongst rural communities;
• In-depth knowledge on participatory forest management and village land use planning;
• S/he will be a Tanzanian National with excellent written and spoken English and Swahili.

Project Finance Officer

With responsibility for managing project accounts and other administrative duties, the Finance Officer for the 'Sustainable Management of Chome Nature Reserve in Same District' will play a vital role in the smooth management of the project.

Qualifications, experience and skills

• Advanced Diploma in Accounting or Bachelor Degree in Accounting or NBAA Professional Level II or equivalent;
• At least 5 years experience as an accountant with administrative responsibilities;
• Familiarity with Quickbooks or similar Accounting package.

New Generation of Watershed Management Project

The project aims to ensure the sustainable management of the natural resources in order to improve rural livelihoods. The project is being implemented in Tanzania, the Gambia and Zambia. In Tanzania, the project is being implemented by TFCG. The project is financed by Gorta and FAO.

Marketing Officer - Korogwe

This is an opportunity to work with farmers and local enterprises in order to improve farmers' access to markets.

Qualifications, experience and skills

• A minimum of four years experience in supporting improved marketing skills amongst rural communities;
• Hold a BSc or higher degree in marketing, rural development and/or agronomy;
• S/he will be a Tanzanian National with excellent written and fluent English and Swahili.

Adding Value to the Arc Project

The project aims to alleviate poverty and improve economic resilience among marginalised rural communities in Mvomero District, Tanzania.
