Programmes & On Demand is responsible for BBC iPlayer and the BBC’s Radio & Music proposition on PC, mobile, tablet and TV. The team also builds services used across the BBC including media playback, recommendations and social as well as mobile and TV applications.

Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to the join the BBC iPlayer team. 
BBC iPlayer was recently voted the number 1 brand in the UK and is used every week by a quarter of the UK population, generating in excess of 270 million programme requests a month! Though the team’s mobile products already rank among the most popular in the UK, with over 15 million installs of BBC iPlayer across Android and iOS, there are tremendous opportunities for creativity and growth in the future.
 
The Business Analyst will be integral to defining and delivering the future face of BBC iPlayer’s mobile applications. Working closely with Editorial, User Experience & Design and other stakeholders across the BBC, Business Analysts are responsible for interpreting consumer and audience research data, impartial product analysis, facilitation and capture of product requirements for mobile and applications.
 
This particular role will require the individual to build close relationships across the teams in London and the Mobile Platforms team based in Media City, Salford.

Requirements

1. Strong business analysis experience in a new media software delivery environment, with focus on requirements gathering and documentation.
2. Good understanding of the relevant technologies and practices e.g. client- and server-side technologies, new media technologies and platforms and software engineering processes and practices.
3. Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams delivering software projects in an Agile environment (in particular Scrum and/or Behavioural Driven Development).
4. Experience in new media reporting, analysing usage data and identifying trends.
5. Experience communicating concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels within organisations, including oral and written presentations, proposals, specifications, and reports.
6. Good understanding of the UK market landscape for digital media products, including consumer attitudes and interaction.
7. Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organisation, and in a variety of contexts.
8. Ability to simplify complex problems into component parts and evaluate systematically.
9. Evidence of problem solving and providing creative solutions.
10. Considerable experience in using Microsoft Excel.
