Options is looking for an outstanding Programme Director to lead a programme of technical assistance working with government departments to support implementation of national level schemes to enhance delivery of health and nutrition services.

The successful candidate will have a flair for leading transformational development programmes, with an excellent reputation for providing short and long term technical assistance to Government departments and to international development agencies such as the World Bank and DFID.

Demonstrable expertise in some or all of the following:
  • High level engagement with government departments and external development partners
  • Experience working with Indian institutions and international technical agencies
  • Experience improving systems for planning and resource decision-making in health and nutrition
  • Supporting technical staff seconded to government departments or programmes
  • Lead programmes of technical learning to support capacity development.

Required competencies:
  • Masters in Public Health or in a related social/development sector
  • Strong technical understanding of the Indian health sector
  • 15 years’ experience of planning and managing complex programmes
  • Supreme diplomacy, influencing and consensus building skills for liaising with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent track record for developing strategies for challenging environments
  • A strong results orientation, ability to communicate technical information clearly, and a commitment to accountability
  • Excellent people management skills.
