Department

BBC Radio Leeds broadcasts to over 200,000 listeners every week. In Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax and Wakefield, we are at the heart of a large diverse county - the first choice for news, sport, travel, weather, music and debate. We are a big city station making a difference in our community.

We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Assistant to work primarily on our Late Show which serves the regional cluster of stations – Leeds, York, Sheffield and Humberside.

Role

Your main responsibility will be working on our successful Late Show, generating great talking points and interactivity and helping the show build an even bigger audience across the region.

You’ll be responsible for finding discussion topics, setting up guests, sourcing music for features and writing cues/briefing notes. You’ll then oversee the live programme.

You’ll also be responsible for assisting our successful daily teatime Sports Show – West Yorkshire Sport Daily. You’ll assist with live production, look after guests and field callers.

In addition, you may occasionally work on other areas of the Radio Leeds output as required.

Requirements

You’ll have some experience of working on live radio programmes. You’ll be creative with lots of ideas on how to engage a late night audience around the region. You’ll have good knowledge of our local radio audiences and be passionate about making great radio.
